What is The Brown Sheet?
The Brown Sheet is a brief bi-monthly newsletter that focuses on the recycled fiber market. The objective of this subscription service is to help recyclers better understand current markets. The Brown Sheetprovides recycled fiber producers with the knowledge they need to negotiate fair terms and prices for their baled product. The Brown Sheet reports price changes for corrugated and low-grade fiber products and explores current and future markets.

Who is The Brown Sheet for?
The Brown Sheet is designed for fiber generators of waste corrugated fibers, low-grade fibers, and office paper. End users are also encouraged to subscribe so they can match their pricing with current market supply and demand. This publication is for recyclers who may or may not be heavily involved in the industry. It can aid those who get their market news from a buyer.

What can I learn from The Brown Sheet?
The newsletter reports and clarifies recycled fiber markets and pricing. The Brown Sheet evaluates 11 regions of the United States plus export, to provide accurate price range estimates and inform subscribers what amounts they can expect to be paid each month for semi load quantities of product. The rates disclosed in The Brown Sheet are Mill Direct, without a broker involved. Unfortunately, the bottom range in price is what many generators are paid when dealing with brokers. These rates show the amount paid F.O.B. at the generator’s dock door and loaded, per mill specifications, on semi trailers in 22 ton loads. Visit the Newsletters page to see past articles and regional price pages.

Where does The Brown Sheet get its information?
The Newsletter is written and published by individuals who have been in the business and wish to pass on their successful marketing tips and warn you of what to watch out for. The Brown Sheet™ is a cooperative and the information collected comes from the facts and figures its subscribers disclose. In addition, information from buyer interviews is considered in the publication (factoring in their past performance rates). Individuals, companies, and all recyclers can help structure pricing trends by simply sharing information. Together we can avoid having prices dictated. Visit the Biographies page for more information about The Brown Sheet™ staff.

How did The Brown Sheet originate?
The Brown Sheet™ originated when fiber recyclers, who had visited our sister website http://www.recycleguy.com, requested more information in regards to the section How to Recycle Corrugated Cardboard. The main question from first time Recyclers was “How can I reduce the waste stream and lower the company waste service costs?” The answer to that was easy - conduct a trash audit, start pulling out recyclables, and recycle them! But now that they are recycling, they are asking: What value does it have? How do I get the best price? And some are even as advanced to ask: How are those monthly prices determined? Not many know that there are six to ten different regions in the United States, Lower Canada, and Northern Mexico who all operate off of U.S. pricing. The Brown Sheet™ wants to share experience and expand the network of fiber recyclers. The Brown Sheet™ was born so that we can answer some of these tough questions and provide informative news to fiber recyclers everywhere.
